IGNITE Studios Hosts Sony Music Publishing Sync Writing Camp 2025

For three full days, IGNITE Studios became a high-pressure, high-energy creative hub for some of the country’s best songwriting and production talent. In collaboration with Sony Music Publishing, the studio hosted an intensive writing camp focused on creating world-class sync music for major international platforms.

Three Days. One Studio. 4 Rooms. Global Briefs.

Curated by award-winning producer and IGNITE resident Robbie Desa, the camp brought together a handpicked group of Sony Music Publishing writers and producers to write music specifically for large international production companies, including Netflix and Paramount+.

This wasn’t a speculative exercise or a “write and hope” situation — these were real briefs, real deadlines, and real opportunities. The goal was simple: create authentic, high-quality music that could live inside global film and television projects.

And that’s exactly what happened.

Real-Time Feedback, Real Outcomes

One of the defining aspects of the camp was access.

Across the three days, publisher representatives and production company reps were actively involved — listening to works-in-progress, offering guidance, and giving real-time creative and commercial feedback. Writers weren’t guessing what would work; they were shaping songs with direct insight from the people placing the music.

That collaborative approach paid off. Several tracks written during the camp secured sync placements as a direct result of the sessions — a rare and powerful outcome that speaks to both the quality of the music and the strength of the initiative.

Curated by Robbie Desa

At the centre of the camp was award winning producer Robbie Desa, whose experience across production, songwriting, and sync made him the ideal curator. As an IGNITE resident and respected producer, Robbie shaped the environment to be focused, supportive, and creatively ambitious — balancing structure with the freedom needed for great songs to emerge.

The result was a room that felt productive without being rigid, and collaborative without losing individual voice.

Why This Matters

In an era increasingly dominated by shortcuts and synthetic output, this camp was a reminder of the power of real music made by real writers in a room together.

It wasn’t about chasing trends — it was about:

  • Craft

  • Collaboration

  • Clear creative direction

  • And connecting artists directly with real industry outcomes

For the writers involved, it was a rare opportunity to sharpen their sync craft, build relationships, and see their work move quickly from idea to placement.

For IGNITE Studios, it reinforced what the space is built for: high-level creative work, meaningful collaboration, and tangible results.

Looking Ahead

The Sony Music Publishing writing camp was a standout example of what’s possible when great writers, strong curation, and real industry access come together. It was focused, productive, and — just as importantly — a lot of fun.

IGNITE Studios is proud to have hosted an initiative that champions authentic songwriting, supports working creators, and delivers real outcomes on a global scale.

Here’s to more initiatives like this — and more REAL music that makes it all the way to screen.
